Extra Curricular Activities

There are many opportunities within the school to learn a variety of instruments, with specialist music teachers coming into school to teach the children in small groups.  At the end of most terms the children get an opportunity to show off their new found skills in an Assembly.  It is always a treat to see what they have achieved.  Children who play an instrument can also join the orchestra which rehearses on Friday mornings before school.

If your child wishes to learn an instrument, please contact the admin office.  Please note that there are waiting lists for some instruments

Peripatetic Music Tuition

Arrangements for learning and/or purchasing an instrument are made through the school office.   Music lessons this year (2017 - 2018) are as follows:

Cello and Violin

Guitar -  Rock & Pop Academy

Friday Keyboard  Brass

Many children at Greenfields learn a musical instrument through *Hampshire Music Service.  There is a range for them to choose from including violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, flute, oboe, keyboard, percussion, cello, double bass and French horn.  Some children take advantage of an arrangement with the Rock & Pop Academy (previously known as SCAMPS), a private organisation which teaches guitar.

School Orchestra

Orchestra 1 Small              Orchestra 2 Small

This is run by Mrs Julie Roberts and meets in the school hall on a Friday morning before school (8:00 - 8:50 am) and is open to all those children who have been playing an instrument for at least a year. Unfortunately we can not accommodate keyboards.

Year 4 Music

Year 4's music curriculum is taught through instrumental lessons with Hampshire Music Service.

Year 4 will have regular Samba drum, Ukulele and Brass lessons during the year.

Afterschool sports are available after school most evenings, and these enables the children to learn a variety of different sports.  These include football, hockey and netball in the winter months, and tennis and cricket during the summer.  The children get the opportunity to compete with other schools in some of these sports.  There is also a Dance class on Tuesday evenings which is very popular.

Our Eco-Warriors

Each class has two Eco-Warriors - they have regular meetings and then feed back to their classes on how to help the environment, save energy and encourage everybody to recycle as much as they can.

Over the past 2 years Greenfields has achieved the Bronze Eco-Schools award followed by the Silver Eco-Schools award. The Silver award was presented to the Eco-warriors in November 2015 by Dr Paul Howe, the Bio-diversity officer at Hart Council.

Greenfields After School Playscheme (GASP)

Gasp collage cropped Small

Do you ever have difficulty picking your children up from school at the end of the day?  If so, we operate a playscheme from 3.30 - 5.30 pm.  Year 1 & 2 Oakwood children are collected at 3.15 pm and walked down to Greenfields.

Fees:          £5 per hour

Children are given a drink and two biscuits after registration.  Any child who goes to Swifts may join the Playscheme afterwards.  Children who attend Beavers or football sessions on Greenfields School field can change and be ready to go to their activity on time.

The Playscheme is open to children from Oakwood Year 1 to Greenfields Year 6 on a regular or one-off basis.  The child's name must be entered on the daily list held in the Greenfields school office by the parent or child (parents of Oakwood children can call Greenfields office to add their child's name to the list if they are not able to come in to school and sign them in personally).  Should you have a problem collecting your child from school, just telephone the school office and a message will be given to your child to attend the Playscheme and their name put on the list (parents of Oakwood children must notify Greenfields office by 12 noon in this event).

All children attending the Playscheme must be registered; the School Office has the relevant form or you can download it from the link at the bottom of this page.

We accept childcare vouchers; please see the playleader or contact the school office for details.

The Terms & Conditions are available from both Greenfields and Oakwood School if you would like a copy.  They can also be viewed by downloading the pdf file below.  Thank you.
